Global Sounds at Abercrombie Hotel

Global Sounds is the DJ and cultural project of DJ/Designer Leon Kannangara. Grounded in his South Asian roots, the project blends rare funk, soul, disco, early house, ethnographic grooves, and global sounds into immersive dancefloor journeys. Global Sounds is driven by a belief in music as a tool for connection, storytelling, and community, drawing sounds across borders and generations to create groove-led experiences.

The project has been presented at respected cultural institutions and arts spaces, including the Museum of Contemporary Art and Golden Age Cinema, alongside community and council-led events across Sydney. Internationally, Global Sounds has featured in Vietnam with performances at Mirage in Hanoi and Maia in Da Nang. Deeply influenced by the multicultural energy of Western Sydney, the project sits at the intersection of music, art, and culture, prioritising thoughtful curation, emotional flow, and shared experience over trends.
