As People & Proxy Diver W. The Pennys [Free Entry]
Fresh from announcing their self-titled debut EP, Sydney heavy psych-garage duo As People are hitting the road this October and November alongside fellow Dharawal outfit Proxy Diver for a run of free co-headline shows across New South Wales.
The tour will see the two bands bring their high-intensity live shows to Sydney, Newcastle, Northern Beaches and Wollongong, celebrating two of Sydney’s most exciting emerging heavy acts while making the performances accessible for all through free entry at every stop.
As People’s debut self titled EP (Release: Thursday October 8th) captures the band’s rawest and most confident work to date, translating the urgency of their recordings into an immersive live experience. This tour offers audiences their first opportunity to experience ‘As People’ in full following its release.
“This EP was written to be experienced live” says As People. “These songs are built around energy, tension and connection so getting to celebrate the release with friends we’ve admired for a long time, while making every show free for people to come along, felt like the perfect way to launch this chapter.”
Joining them as co-headliners is Proxy Diver, forged in the surf-rock-saturated crucible of Wollongong Proxy Diver hit the scene in late 2023 with a raw, heavy twist on grunge and shoegaze that ditches the coastal clichés channelling influences from Helmet, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Deftones into music that’s visceral, chaotic, and as vivid as it is raw.
Recently for Proxy Diver is the drop of their latest single ‘ROTTWEILER’ on September 11th. The track is about being angry, having zero fucks left to give and wanting to rip heads off after you've bled yourself dry doing stuff for everyone else. They are DIY as it gets. The boys rep the Wollongong Hardcore proudly. They did this song themselves; recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Adam. On a whim, Adam reached out to the homie Dave from L.O.W to jump on this track for a feature. “It's heavy, we're pissed off and sick of breaking ourselves for people who will never understand us. It ends in a stupidly heavy breakdown” says the band. There is also a music video coming for it, shot by their homie Jake and the lads are keen to let this song rip at Yours and Owls Festival and on our tour with As People.
