THE ESCARPMENT – GREAT DAYS SINGLE LAUNCHThe Escarpment launch their new single, ‘Great Days’, live at La La Las on Friday 25 September, with support from Dropping Honey, Raised As Wolves and Birdsville.Formed from the fragments of punk rock ruins, The Escarpment are a band that link urban disconnection, saltwater headspaces and twilight life affairs. Drawing on a plethora of native Australian influences and fusing these with grittier influences from further afield, The Escarpment have cultivated a sound that reflects the light and shadow of the environment in which they live - somewhere between the mountains and the sea. Their debut album, ‘Shadow City’ was released via Music Farmers back in 2015 and received significant praise from fans both nationally and internationally, including some of their all-time heroes. 2026 sees them returning with a long-awaited new set of recordings that further explore their unique sound with a newfound clarity and intent.The first single from an upcoming full-length album, ‘Great Days’ is an eight-minute epic that burns through a tale of underdog optimism with shades of The Church, Midnight Oil, Wilco and Swervedriver. The track was recorded in Woonona by their bass player Jamie Cleaves (Tumbleweed) and mixed in Keiraville by Brent Williams (The New Christs). The song carries the belief that hard stretches come round in cycles — droughts break, the roads empty out, everything loops back on itself — and movement is powered by a plain kind of hope.
