Ania Reynolds & Gbade Okunade ** FREE FRONT BAR GIG** live at Wesley Anne in Northcote on March 22, 2026 - Concert poster
Two of Melbourne's most dynamic global musicians - Ania Reynolds aka Synthotronica and Olugbade Okunade aka GP Saxy - bring the vibes and party music to the Wesley Anne front bar on Sunday March 22nd! Synthotronica combines fat beats with fatter synths and live baritone sax and percussion with one thing in mind: to make you dance! The alter-ego of award-winning artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Ania Reynolds, she has performed her original music across five continents, shared a saxophone solo duet with Femi Kuti and played baritone sax hanging upside down at the National Theatre in London. Her live performance has been described as a ‘stunning display of musicality’ (Nicole Precel, SMH 2019). Afrobeat, Samba, Dub/Reggae, Cumbia, Ska and more feature in her her original sound that has been variously described as Wonkadelic, Techno Jazz, Steampunk Swing and Cosmic Groove. Olugbade Okunade - Gbade - grew up in the Afrobeat capital of the world, Lagos, Nigeria. In 2000, Gbade joined Fela Kuti’s world-renowned band, EGYPT 80, and has toured the world playing festivals including WOMAD, Bluesfest, Cochella, Montreal Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival, and more. Now living in Melbourne, he leads the band ALARIIYA.
