Kindred's Thursday afternoon gig series is back for 2026! Free live music from 1-3pm with local artists.

This Thursday we're joined by RAY PEREIRA & ABOUBACAR DJELIKÉ KOUYATE!

Aboubacar and Ray will present a programme of original music based on the songs of Aboubacar who comes from a traditional musical family (known as Griots) from the West African country of Mali. Aboubacar has been playing music since he was a young boy. His beautiful voice, accompanied by his guitar and the West African harp-like instrument the Ngoni, commands your attention as his lyrics tell stories of life, loss, happiness and grief. 

Ray Pereira is recognised as one of Australia’s premier percussionists and is regarded as a pioneer in introducing the polyrhythms of Afro Cuban and West African drumming to the wider community in this country. Ray has performed and recorded with a who’s who of Australian music icons.
