Israel Varela presents Flamencoltrane at Lyric's Underground

Israel Varela presents his 12th album and new project Flamencoltrane, celebrating the centenary of the genius John Coltrane. This project offers a unique and original blend of jazz and flamenco elements, paying homage to Coltrane’s legacy through a spiritual and rhythmic journey. Varela's compositions for this album are influenced by sacred compositional geometry and the driving rhythms of flamenco, aiming to provide a soulful experience of "rebirth" for the listener alongside several works by John Coltrane, specifically arranged in a flamenco-jazz style.  This show sees Varela team up with local giants Tom O'Halloran (piano), Sean Little (saxophone), Zac Grafton (acoustic bass) and is presented by Michael Pignéguy.
