The night of the disenfranchised was curated with the intention of showcasing acts who are unified in their unconventionality. Rooted in rock, this lineup branches out into performances that are theatrical, electronic, nostalgic and more!
Prannay & Co
“Gripping Carnatic guitar riffs and calming vocal melodies question truths” — Rolling Stone India on Prannay’s song, ‘Made Up’.
The headliner, Prannay, plays his second Naarm show since his return from NYC. Expect cutting-edge electronic production with organic instrumentation and unconventional vocal stylings. Prannay’s music is intense, colourful, and genre-defying - both atmospheric and grounded. He will be joined by two exceptionally talented homegrown musicians- Samra and Tahlia.
Materia
Materia has rejected modernity but overshot tomorrow, unwittingly exchanging their guitars for lutes. Glam metal vocal tunes unleash soaring melodies descending on a bed of 70s inspired rock. Syncopated riffs belted from mandolins and violins alike are framed by thunderous beats evoking echoes of hardcore drumming. Unorthodox and unapologetic, Materia heralds the end of the age of guitar.
The Chop
Melbourne based band The Chop are fresh off of releasing their debut EP that throws back to 90's alt-rock and Grunge. They bring high energy riffs and raw vocals that will get you headbanging like it’s 1994. Having recently performed at Shotkickers, The Workers Club, The Kindred Bandroom and more, they’re back to make bad decisions.
Pomp Art
Pomp Art fuses the glittery velvet glamour of the theatre with the emotive power of hard rock. Flamboyant, theatrical and dazzling, Pomp Art doesn’t shy away from the wicked nature of old-world theatre. The name in itself is a wink to the criticisms on the excess of glam rock and the bold irreverence of pop art. Expect danceable grooves, thundering riffs, and tender ballads within songs that evolve like the acts of a play.
