Debaser Presents: BETTY
The ‘STRING’ EP Launch
With special guests Danika & ZEAL.H
Debaser is proud to present BETTY at the Oxford Art Factory for the launch of her sophomore EP, STRING—a performance built on the "shared breath" between the artist, the choir, and the room.
After the internal gravity of her debut EP, Knack, and her collaborative album honeymoon with Euan Hart, BETTY returns to Eora for her most expansive chapter yet. Fresh from a headline European tour and a glowing showcase at SXSW, this homecoming reflects an evolution born from time spent learning from the likes of Sarah Kinsley and Serebii. It is a moment of quiet power, refining a live presence that is as commanding as it is intimate.
The Support
Joining the evening is Melbourne/Naarm-based artist Danika. Performing in a trio format, Danika offers an immersive sound rich in groove and "otherworldly" vocals. Drawing from a delicate blend of Folk, Soul, and Jazz, her cyclical fingerpicking and warm, textural guitar tones—honed alongside producer Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote)—create a cathartic outlet that taps directly into the inner workings of the soul.
Opening the night is ZEAL.H (FKA Mia Petra), the Muloobinba/Newcastle-based project that forges a world where earth and electricity converge. For this show, ZEAL.H brings a stripped-back condenser-style set, replacing synths with acoustic instrumentation and huddled thick harmonies—a sound that is both nuanced and refreshingly uncompromised.
The Performance
Produced by Yianni Adams, STRING explores the invisible ties that bind us. This body of work bridges the gap between timeless storytelling and a new, experimental horizon—where traditional folk-soul meets the pulse of drum machines, the ghost of space echo, and Betty’s signature, soaring choral arrangements.
As a community architect and founder of the Sounds Good Choir, BETTY invites you to witness the strength found within vulnerability, and to join in the resonance of a world built on steady, quiet intention.
